WHITE MATERIAL (Claire Denis, 2009)

***½
France

Claire Denis revisits familiar post-colonial-immersive-vaguely-elliptical terrain and Isabelle Huppert gets to play chilly, enigmatic and inscrutable. Neither of them contributes much that is new to her respective oeuvre, but their company is intoxicating. And they seed in plenty of character and social detail to keep you further in thrall.
